There is a difference between believing something is true and needing it to be true. Our son's diagnosis forced us into that space. It became the beginning of a deeper kind of grief, a deeper kind of faith, and the long process of learning to hold both hope and heartbreak in the same hands.

When I wanted God's provision to look like healing, certainty, or a clear path forward, He instead, gave us a gifted counselor, faithful friends, wise pastors, compassionate doctors, and a community that reminded us we were never walking this road alone.

I've never minded solving difficult problems. In fact, I rather enjoy them. But some problems refuse to be solved on my timeline. They can only be lived through. Waiting has always been the hardest part for me. I'm slowly learning that it isn't simply what happens before the real story begins—it is part of the story. Looking back, some of God's deepest work in my life has happened in those in-between spaces where there was nothing left to do but trust Him.
